Veterans

As a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, I understand firsthand the unique needs and challenges faced by those who have served in our armed forces.

I understand firsthand the unique needs and challenges faced by those who have served in our armed forces. As your next sheriff of Clayton County, I am committed to ensuring that our veterans have a voice and the support they deserve in our community.

I will work diligently with our armed forces to actively recruit service members transitioning to civilian life, helping to fill our vacant ranks with individuals who bring invaluable skills, discipline, and dedication to our sheriff’s office. My experience as a member of the American Legion Post 258 in Jonesboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6330 in Jonesboro has given me a deep appreciation for the camaraderie and support networks that veterans create. I intend to leverage these connections to foster a strong partnership between our sheriff’s office and the veteran community.

Recognizing that the Georgia National Guard is often activated during major emergencies, I will prioritize collaboration and training with them to ensure we are well-prepared to respond during Clayton County security disasters, whether they be major weather incidents or civil unrest. This proactive approach will strengthen our community’s resilience and safety.

Additionally, I will initiate programs that engage veterans in community service and leadership roles, empowering them to share their experiences and insights. Hosting forums and events where veterans can connect with local law enforcement will build trust and collaboration, reinforcing the idea that our sheriff’s office stands with those who have served.

By advocating for policies that support veterans, such as mental health resources, job training, and educational opportunities, we can create an environment where veterans feel valued and supported. As I seek your support for this candidacy, I pledge to be a sheriff who listens, understands, and acts in the best interests of our veterans and the entire Clayton County community. Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive community that honors the sacrifices made by those who have served.

Respectfully,

Cornell “CJ” Madison
