As the elected sheriff, a fundamental aspect of my strategic plan and goal is to establish a proactive law enforcement agency by significantly reducing the number of active outstanding warrants. Given that criminal activities occur around the clock, my Deputies will be diligently executing arrest warrants with the aim of making Henry County the most secure jurisdiction within the Atlanta metro area.
My approach involves forging and capitalizing on partnerships among all law enforcement entities in the county, which encompass the Henry County PD, Stockbridge PD, Hampton PD, Locust Grove PD, and McDonough PD. This objective will be realized through the formation of a Multi-Jurisdictional Taskforce, designed to preemptively combat and diminish crime by applying innovative strategies rooted in crime analysis, spanning both the incorporated and unincorporated regions of Henry County. The idea here is to transcend jurisdictional boundaries and unite under the banner of “One” Henry County, thereby amplifying our collective efforts beyond constraints.
It’s important to recognize that the Sheriff’s Office operates as a constitutional institution, and my intention is to supplement and support policing endeavors across Henry County. Addressing the pressing staffing inadequacies within the Jail is paramount. To tackle this challenge and ensure public safety, the solution involves a Proactive Recruitment approach, targeting dedicated Correctional Officers and Deputies who are committed to effecting positive change and reducing recidivism rates. This strategy will have a cascading effect, boosting morale not only within the Jail but throughout the Sheriff’s Office, fostering a confident and empowered work environment. Our goal is to attract the finest candidates to our agency, strengthening its overall capabilities.
Looking ahead, the youth represent our future, and it’s imperative that we remain proactive in nurturing their development. By consistently offering mentorship, building connections, and fostering trust, we can guide them toward becoming valuable contributors to society rather than succumbing to negative influences. This can be achieved through the implementation of a dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) program, alongside proactive engagement within the school system.
Recognizing my fiduciary responsibility, I pledge to uphold and maintain a fiscally responsible budget. Frivolous expenditures are incompatible with this commitment, hence I endorse regular audits to ensure transparent financial practices. I firmly believe that the funds at hand belong to the people, and I, as the elected Sheriff, am merely the steward of those resources.
